Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has expressed her gratitude to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rejecting a recall petition filed against her.

The petition, pushed by certain groups and individuals, was deemed invalid by INEC for failing to meet constitutional requirements.

In a statement released on Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan praised INEC for upholding constitutional justice and resisting pressures from what she referred to as “undemocratic elements” in Kogi and the Senate.

She also mocked former Governor Yahaya Bello, one of the key figures behind the recall attempt, calling him “one of the most wanted persons by the EFCC.”

“God has put to shame anti-democratic forces plotting my recall from the Senate, including former governor Yahaya Bello,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said. “All along, I did not exercise any fear because I have a God that never fails, and I have people on my side.”

She described INEC’s decision as a victory against “manipulators, election riggers, and violent merchants,” declaring, “To God be the glory, we have defeated them again.”

The Senator further emphasized that INEC had proven its independence and restored justice, and warned political opponents, “Your days are numbered in politics.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan ended her statement by reiterating her commitment to bringing justice to the oppressed and contributing to a better Nigeria.
