The Katsina State Executive Council, led by Governor Dikko Radda, has given the green light for significant investments in electric and solar-powered vehicles, alongside the construction of a 20-storey residential building in Lagos.
These decisions were made during the council’s meeting on Thursday at the Government House in Katsina.
Aisha Aminu, Director General of the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency, announced that the council approved the bulk purchase of electric and solar-powered vehicles and tricycles under the state’s public transportation program.
Aminu explained, “This innovative transportation programme aims to provide subsidised transport fares to residents amid rising petroleum costs while creating employment opportunities for the state’s youth population.”
She further revealed that IRS, a reputable Kano-based company, along with another supplier, have been selected to carry out the project.
The Executive Council also approved plans to construct a 20-storey residential building on government-owned land in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Hadiza Maikudi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Intergovernmental, Development Partners, and Liaison Services, commented, “This landmark project, scheduled for completion within 24 months, represents a strategic investment to enhance the state’s revenue base.”
