Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has dismissed Dr. Emmanuel Ehiem, the Chief Medical Director of Argungu General Hospital, following concerns over the management of a N973 million renovation project.

This decision came after the governor conducted a surprise late-night inspection triggered by patient complaints about the hospital’s services.

Governor Idris expressed his frustration, saying, “We cannot invest such a huge amount in revitalising the hospital and allow mismanagement to waste it.”

The dismissal occurred as the governor inaugurated the newly renovated facility, which is part of a broader plan to improve healthcare in the state.

Governor Idris also announced the renovation of several other hospitals and introduced plans to upgrade the Kebbi Medical Centre to a State Teaching Hospital.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the governor promised to revise the medical salary scale and increase allowances for healthcare workers to tackle brain drain. He also announced the procurement of ambulances and the renovation of 13 primary health centres.

“We are committed to strengthening healthcare delivery in Kebbi State,” Governor Idris affirmed.
