Kogi State Government has condemned Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of inciting violence and making reckless statements.
In a statement issued on April 1, 2025, the government urged security agencies to take action against the suspended senator for allegedly attempting to disrupt peace in the state.
Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, dismissed Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and other political figures were responsible for her safety threats.
“These allegations are nothing but a feeble attempt to stir unnecessary controversy,” Fanwo said, calling Akpoti-Uduaghan a “serial manipulator” and a “security threat.”
The accusations came after Akpoti-Uduaghan visited Kogi Central, defying a state ban on political gatherings. Despite security warnings, she received a warm welcome from supporters, arriving in a helicopter and dismissing the ban.
“We are not having a rally. This is just me, the Senator representing Kogi Central, coming down to her people to celebrate this festive time – the Sallah with you,” she explained.
The state government warned that any violence resulting from her actions would hold Akpoti-Uduaghan accountable. “Her actions violate the state’s ban on political gatherings, and we will not allow unrest in Kogi,” Fanwo stated.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who has previously accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Governor Yahaya Bello of political persecution, insists that she is a victim of political vendetta.
