Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced the creation of two new ministries: the Ministry of Livestock Development and the Ministry of Transportation. This brings the total number of ministries in the state to 22, aimed at enhancing governance and improving service delivery.
The Ministry of Livestock Development, carved from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, is tasked with bolstering food security and supporting livestock farming across the state’s 16 local government areas.
“This move will address challenges in large-scale livestock farming and strengthen support for farmers, herders, and stakeholders in the livestock value chain,” said Bolanle Olukoju, the state Commissioner for Communications.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transportation, now separate from the Ministry of Works and Transport, will focus on improving transportation systems. The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency will also fall under this new ministry to streamline traffic management.
The restructuring, approved at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, represents another step in Governor AbdulRazaq’s push for effective governance and service delivery.
