Massive traffic congestion has caused a near standstill on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, from Wawa Bus Stop to Otedola Bridge, leaving commuters stuck for hours.
The gridlock, which began in the early morning hours, has led to frustration among travelers, with vehicles crawling along the road.
According to eyewitnesses, the traffic was triggered by an accident near the Otedola Bridge, but full details of the crash remain unclear. In a desperate attempt to escape the jam, many drivers have resorted to driving on the untarred sections of the road, further worsening the situation.
“This is frustrating. I have been here since morning, and we have barely moved,” said commuter Mr. Samuel Adeoye. “I heard there was an accident, but there should be a way to ease this traffic quickly.”
Another driver, Mrs. Bola Omotosho, called on authorities to take immediate action. “The government needs to do something about this road. Accidents and traffic jams happen too often here, and it’s affecting productivity,” she said.
