The General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, has assured the residents in the Lagos Division of affordable and quality healthcare.
Speaking during the Ilera Eko Enrolment Drive at Maternal Child Centre (MCC), Eti-Osa, the General Manager said that enrollment on the health insurance scheme would enable residents to access prompt, cost-effective healthcare and also support funding of their healthcare needs.
Dr. Zamba said that the passion of the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for quality healthcare led to the establishment of the Agency and the Ilera Eko initiative for financing medical expenses of the people.
Encouraging residents to participate in the health scheme, the LASHMA boss said, “if all of us enrol on Ilera Eko, we will contribute to the large pool and anyone who is sick will be treated from the pool fund.”
She listed Ilera Eko benefit package to include registration and consultation, treatment of common ailments and conditions such as malaria, typhoid, diabetes, hypertension, asthma, HIV and TB, noting that pharmaceutical care and minor surgeries such as incision drainage, herniorrhaphy and appendectomy are also covered in the scheme.
While urging residents to visit the Divisional office situated within the MCC, Eti-Osa or other Ilera Eko kiosks in the Division to enrol with either N8,500 annually for an individual plan or N40,000 annually for a family plan, Dr. Zamba also stated that adults from 60 years old can also enrol with N34,000 annually for individuals, just as couples could pay N65,000 annually to enjoy benefits provided by the health insurance scheme.
The General Manager explained further that instalment payments have been introduced for easy access to the Ilera Eko subscription. She said that with N3,000 initial payment to cover the premium for three months under Ilera Eko individual plan, an enrolee can enjoy the package benefits while the individual will continue with the payment of N1,000 monthly for the remaining nine months to make a one-year premium payment.
For the Family plan, Dr. Zamba explained that with the payment of N10,500 at once to cover the family for three months, such a family will also have access to care but will continue with the payment of N3,500 monthly for the remaining nine months.
The Medical Director, Maternal Child Centre (MCC), Eti-Osa, Dr. Mustapha Quadri, commended the State Government for its determination and dedication towards ensuring the good health of residents.
“The health insurance is a way of saving for the rainy day because nobody knows when medical challenge will come but with health insurance, you are prepared for any eventuality”, he said.
The Medical Director enjoined all and sundry in the Division to urgently enrol on the Ilera Eko health plan in order to reduce the financial stress whenever they fall sick.
