Lagos Sets Sights on Becoming Africa’s Fintech and Gaming Hub

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced his administration’s commitment to transforming Lagos into Africa’s leading hub for digital gaming, fintech, and AI-driven creative industries.

Speaking at the Africa Gaming Expo (AGE) 2025, he highlighted the vast potential for collaboration among these sectors in shaping the future of Africa’s digital economy.

“The government is focused on policies and initiatives that will foster innovation and ensure responsible gaming while prioritizing digital entrepreneurship,” Sanwo-Olu said during his keynote address.

Sanwo-Olu stressed the importance of strategic investments, digital infrastructure, and progressive policies in creating an ecosystem where gaming developers, fintech startups, and AI innovators can scale globally.

“The AGE 2025 is not just an exhibition, it is a platform for exploring AI’s role in enhancing efficiency, security, and inclusivity across industries like gaming, fintech, and entertainment,” he added.

Also, Mr. Bashir Are, CEO of the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority (LSLGA), noted that AGE serves as an essential event for gaming regulators and operators to collaborate and address industry challenges.

Lagos aims to position itself at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation with this bold vision.
