The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has re-launched its “Operation Catch Them Young” initiative aimed at educating secondary school students across the state on traffic safety.
The program, which targets students in six educational districts, provides crucial knowledge on traffic signs, regulations, and safety protocols every Wednesday.
Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA’s spokesperson, highlighted that the initiative’s revitalization aims to expand its reach and impact. “Embedding traffic consciousness in young minds is pivotal to nurturing a disciplined and law-abiding society,” said Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation.
In addition to classroom sessions, the programme also features interactive road safety games, essay competitions, and outreach events for schools, including those catering to students with special needs.
The initiative aligns with the state government’s commitment to fostering a safer and more structured transportation system in Lagos.
