Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, recently revealed that his administration’s monthly payment of N24 billion in salaries to state and local government workers has been pivotal in ensuring the state’s economic stability.

Speaking after the Eid-el-Fitri prayers at his Ibadan residence, Makinde explained that this consistent wage payment has not only boosted the local economy but also attracted private sector investments.

“Every four weeks, N24 billion gets into the economy of Oyo State through workers’ salaries. The wage bill of the state is now around N14 billion, while that of the local government is about N10 billion,” he stated.

The governor also urged residents to maintain peace and unity, emphasizing that a stable environment is key to sustaining development in the state. “When we have an atmosphere of unity and live in peace with ourselves, there will be development and progress,” he added.

The gathering was attended by several notable figures, including Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and other political and traditional leaders.
