Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has firmly rejected claims made by Senator Cyril Fasuyi during the Senate plenary on March 5, 2025, suggesting that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan accused him of sexual harassment.

In a statement issued by his media office, Fayemi described the report as a “misrepresentation” of Fasuyi’s remarks. The statement clarified that after reviewing the plenary proceedings, it was confirmed that Fasuyi never made such an accusation.

Sajoh, Head of Fayemi’s Media Office, added, “The senator referenced past disputes between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Fayemi concerning the Ajaokuta Steel Company, but did not accuse him of sexual misconduct.”

Fayemi’s office further emphasized, “Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan—or anyone else, for that matter—has never accused Dr. Fayemi of any form of sexual misconduct.”

Fayemi also distanced himself from the ongoing Senate controversy, stating that his interactions with Akpoti-Uduaghan were based on professional disagreements over policy, not personal disputes.

The statement concluded with a call for media outlets to verify facts before publication, warning that baseless allegations could damage reputations and erode public trust.
