The Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Council, Chijioke Ihunwo, has reiterated that despite multiple court rulings, Governor Siminalayi Fubara will serve his full eight-year term as Governor of Rivers State.
Ihunwo dismissed any doubts regarding Fubara’s leadership, describing him as “a man with conscience and compassion, doing the right things and impacting lives.”
Speaking on recent developments, Ihunwo vowed that no one would “come from the back door” to govern Rivers State, emphasizing that the people had been “liberated from captivity.” He further clarified that the recent Supreme Court judgment did not reinstate Martins Amaewhule and 26 other individuals as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. “Their celebration of the verdict is a mere distraction, and it will not distract the state and the people,” Ihunwo assured.
The council chairman also criticized youths who, according to him, waste time and energy analyzing court judgments on social media. He urged them to redirect their focus to “meaningful and useful ventures” to improve their lives.
In other news, the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, has confirmed the appointments of five nominees for the Rivers State Assembly Service Commission. They include Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja as Chairman, along with members Jones Ogbonda, Dr. Kennedy Ebeku, Soberekon Clark, and Kingston Sylvernus.
Additionally, the Assembly ratified Goodlife Ben as chairman for the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, with Emmanuel Jaja, Mrs. Betty Warmate, Jerome Chimenem, Prince Philip Okparaji, and Christian Amadi as members.
