The Ogun State House of Assembly has begun investigations into the suspended chairmen of the 20 local government councils and 37 local council development areas’ financial dealings.

The chairmen were suspended by the Assembly.

The Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Jemili Akingbade, gave instructions to the chairmen to submit the reports of the capital projects they executed, the bidding processes of the contracts awarded and expenditure for scrutiny by the lawmakers during an interactive session between the committee and the council bosses on Monday at the Assembly complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He said the Assembly had been examining the petitions against them.

The committee ordered the council bosses to submit detailed reports of their tenure between October 2016 and May 2019.

Akingbade assured the chairmen of fairness, saying the meeting was an avenue for them to clear themselves of allegations levelled against them.

Akingbade added that the Assembly would resolve the issues concerning the suspension of the chairmen within three weeks.

The Deputy Speaker, Oludare Kadiri; Minority Leader, Ganiyu Oyedeji; the representative of Abeokuta South I, Yusuf Adejojo; and the representative of Ijebu North- East, Abayomi Fasuwa, promised that the Assembly would investigate the allegations of misappropriation of fund and abuse of office leveled against the chairmen.
