Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has suspended the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie, as well as the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Damian Lawani.
The suspensions are tied to serious allegations of “grave official and financial interactions,” according to an official statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, on Thursday.
The two officials were suspended with immediate effect as the government begins an investigation into the claims.
“The suspension is pending the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement read, emphasizing that an Investigative Committee has been set up to probe the allegations and offer recommendations.
“The suspension became necessary to enable a thorough investigation into the financial infractions alleged against them,” the SSG added.
Osagie and Lawani, who were appointed less than three months ago, now face scrutiny as the government aims to maintain integrity and transparency in its operations.
