Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has issued a stern warning to contractors working on various state projects, urging them to adhere to agreed timelines and specifications or face immediate contract termination.

The warning came after the governor inspected several road and drainage projects across the state, including those in Orior-Ozolua Community, where local residents expressed frustration over the slow pace of work.

During the inspection, Governor Okpebholo expressed disappointment at the lack of progress in the area, particularly in the Orior-Ozolua community, where a contractor had been frequently absent.

Sylvester Igbinovia, a local resident, voiced his frustration, stating, “Mr. Governor, this contractor is just too slow on this job. They close before 2 pm when they are on site, but most of the time, they are not even here. They showed up today because they knew you were coming.”

Okpebholo personally examined the drainage project and found that the contractor had not followed the agreed-upon specifications. He confronted the contractor directly, stating, “Why did you reduce the width of the drain? You have altered both sides.

Look at my face—if you do not follow the specifications and deliver quality work, I will revoke this contract at any moment without fear or favour. The resources belong to the people and must be used effectively and efficiently.”
