The Ondo State Government has directed farmers and the company, Sao Capital Limited, to immediately vacate the 10,000-hectare Oluwa Forest Reserve in the Odigbo local government area.
This directive follows an interim injunction granted by a Customary Court, which prohibits any further entry into the land.
Rotimi Akinsola, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Agric and Agribusiness, confirmed the action, warning that anyone found trespassing or violating the court order will face legal consequences.
“Anybody that trespasses on the land or violates the order will be made to face the full wrath of the law,” Akinsola stated in a press release. He further advised those seeking more information on the matter to visit the Ondo State Government Agribusiness Empowerment Centre (OSAEC).
The Oluwa Forest Reserve, a significant land area, is now the center of a legal dispute as the state seeks to enforce the court’s decision.
