Governor Dr. Alex Otti has officially launched the Abia State Dedicated Internet Access/Wide Area and Managed Network project in Umuahia, marking the beginning of a digital transformation aimed at improving service delivery in the state.

The initiative is expected to enhance governance by empowering civil servants with high-performance digital tools and devices.

At the ceremony, Governor Otti emphasized the importance of digital infrastructure, stating, “This project is the first phase of a carefully coordinated programme… and will involve the acquisition and distribution of thousands of high-performance digital tools across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government.”

The governor highlighted that improving the efficiency of the civil service through digital tools will be essential for future promotions and opportunities.

“Certain levels of efficiency with the use of relevant technology shall now be required as a necessary condition for exposure to new opportunities and promotions in the civil service,” Otti said.

Benson Ojeikere, the Head of Service, expressed optimism about the project, predicting that it would make Abia’s civil servants the happiest in Nigeria once completed.

Meanwhile, Gerald Ilukwe, the state’s Chief Information Officer, praised the project as a major milestone in Governor Otti’s transformational agenda.

IPNX’s Group Managing Director, Ejovi Aror, who is partnering with the state on the initiative, stated, “This partnership signals the beginning of a new chapter in the journey towards building a digitally connected, technologically advanced, and economically empowered Abia State.”

The initiative is expected to streamline service delivery and enhance productivity across Abia, ushering in a new era of digital governance.
