Oyo State has launched a new measure to tackle wrong-way driving on its roads: the installation of One-Way tyre spikes. A video circulating on social media shows the spikes in action, puncturing the tyres of vehicles that attempt to drive against traffic. This is part of the state’s initiative to ensure stricter adherence to road regulations.
The video, shared by OyoAffairs on X (formerly Twitter), showcases the tyre spikes along the Idi-Ape area. “To prevent motorists from driving the wrong way on one-way roads, the Oyo State Government has started installing ‘One-Way Tyre Spikes,'” OyoAffairs stated.
While the viral footage has garnered attention, the state government has yet to release an official statement about the broader implementation of this measure.
