Lagos State’s 2023 governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has expressed deep disappointment with the party’s national leadership.

In a revealing interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Jandor shared that the PDP’s actions on the eve of the election led to his resignation.

“I was disappointed by the PDP at the national level. Let me tell you what happened on the eve of the election,” Jandor said.

He further elaborated that the PDP’s state chairman issued a release claiming a forced alliance that never materialized, suggesting he had withdrawn from the race.

“It was not fake news. It exactly happened,” he added, emphasizing the party’s deliberate actions to undermine his campaign.

Reflecting on his loss, Jandor believes the presence of the Peter Obi factor in Lagos contributed significantly to the outcome. “If not for the Peter Obi factor, I would have won the governorship election in the state,” he stated.

Jandor, along with his supporters across Lagos’ 20 local governments and 37 council areas, resigned from the PDP on Monday. When asked about his future plans, Jandor remained non-committal, saying, “I have not decided on which party I will join. I will consult with my people before making any decision.”
