Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, on Sunday, September 22, 2019, accused the Peoples Democratic Party of trying to destabilise his government.
He said the PDP had commenced the 2021 governorship campaign in the state, two years ahead.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C-Don Adinuba, Obiano, who is on his second term on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, said he would not engage in irresponsible politicking with anybody.
He said, “The next governorship in Anambra State will take place in 2021 and the next round of the general election will not hold until four years’ time. Yet, the Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has started the electioneering for both the governorship and general elections.
“If the party had confined itself to development issues of the day, the people of Anambra State would not have been as alarmed as they are today. But it has rather been igniting and stoking all kinds of fire in a state most Nigerians regard as the most peaceful, stable and the most competitive in the whole country.
Reacting, the PDP Chairman in the state, Ndubusi Nwobu, said, “Obiano is haunted by his poor performance. He should leave the PDP out of his problems. The unfulfilled promises to communities are haunting them. The crises they stoked in various communities are haunting them.”
