The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the date for its governorship primary ahead of the November 8 general elections in Anambra, scheduling it for April 5.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Awka on Tuesday, Mr. Chidi Chidebe, Chairman of the party in the state, outlined the primary timetable. According to the timetable, the congress to elect 3-man ad hoc delegates from wards will be held on March 20 and 21, while the Local Government Area delegates election will take place on March 27.
The Chairman also revealed that the final day for the withdrawal and substitution of candidates would be June 2.
Regarding fees, Chidebe confirmed that the nomination form for 3-man ad hoc delegates is priced at N50,000, while the national delegate form costs N150,000. For governorship aspirants, the Expression of Interest form is pegged at N5 million, while the nomination form is set at N35 million.
Chidebe emphasized that the PDP’s Constitution provides exemptions, stating, “Female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities are exempted from paying for nomination forms.”
He also noted that youths under 40 years old would receive a 50% discount on the nomination form, but must still purchase the Expression of Interest form.
