In a significant move to strengthen Lagos State’s global standing as an investment hub, a high-powered delegation from Westpaq International LLC, based in Houston, Texas, and UTC Internacional from São Paulo, Brazil, visited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Lagos House Marina.
The meeting explored potential strategic partnerships between the companies and the Lagos State government.
The delegation, led by Mr. Samuel Diminas, CEO of Westpaq International, and Mr. Mauro Cruz, CEO of UTC Internacional, is currently engaged in the $5 billion Bonga North FPSO EPC Topside Modification Project in collaboration with Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), one of Africa’s most significant offshore energy developments.
“Though Bonga North is a national asset, Lagos is our home,” stated Diminas. “The infrastructure renaissance currently unfolding under Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership has not only made the city globally competitive, but also positioned it as a true hub for technology, investment, and sustainable growth.”
During the visit, the companies expressed a keen interest in expanding their presence in Lagos, citing the city’s strategic importance for their operations. They highlighted potential partnerships across several sectors, including urban infrastructure, energy systems, and socio-economic development initiatives.
Governor Sanwo-Olu welcomed the delegation, commending the companies for their contributions to the energy sector. “Lagos is open to high-impact collaborations that align with our vision for inclusive growth, resilience, and global competitiveness,” he said.
This visit signals a major step forward in enhancing public-private sector collaboration, with both sides eager to leverage global expertise and capital to advance the state’s development agenda.
