Residents and commuters in Plateau State have expressed joy as construction work finally began on the long-neglected Jos-Miango road, a vital route that has been in poor condition for over 15 years.

The road, which connects Jos to Miango, has been a source of great hardship for travelers.

“I am so excited to see that work has finally started on this road. For years, we have been suffering on this road, but now we can see that something is being done to fix it,” said Sarah Yohanna, a regular commuter.

John Daju, another commuter, echoed similar sentiments, stating, “This road has been a nightmare for us, but with the construction work starting, we are hopeful that it will be completed soon and our suffering will come to an end.”

Miango resident Lawrence Zongo praised Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his efforts in revitalizing long-forgotten projects. “Governor Mutfwang has started breathing new life into abandoned projects of the former administration,” he said, emphasizing the significance of the road’s rehabilitation. Zongo also highlighted promises to restore electricity to Miango, a community that has faced power shortages for a decade.

The Plateau State Government has confirmed that the rehabilitation project is expected to be completed in a few months, easing traffic and boosting economic activity in the region. Joshua Ubandoma, the state’s Commissioner for Works, expressed the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, saying, “Our plan is to open up the state for development by making the bad roads motorable.”

As work continues, commuters and residents remain optimistic that the Jos-Miango road will soon provide a safer and smoother journey.
