The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, along with his Borno and Adamawa state counterparts, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum and Alh Umaru Fintiri, have visited Pakistan to study the Pakistani experience in post-insurgency and disaster management.

The Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the study visit was organised by the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP), a World Bank project and coordinated by the North East Development Commission (NEDC).

The tour aims to deepen understanding of best practices in crisis management, disaster resilience, urban development, and coordination by drawing from Pakistan’s experiences.

The statement added that the team from the three states visited the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Corporation (PMDFC), LGCD, and the Punjab Planning and Development Board (PnD Board) in Punjab, a city with a population of over 120 million people.

“The visit aims to: understand best practices and solutions relevant to MCRP AF and NEDC/BAY mandates; strengthen institutional capacity for planning, recovery, and stabilization; enhance implementation of infrastructure, services, and social cohesion; improve planning for post-NEDC phases; and increase MDAs’ capacity to design and implement sustainable projects,” the statement said.

The statement also disclosed that Governor Buni is expected to have bilateral discussions with heads of donor organizations and the private sector for resource mobilisation.
