Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State on Wednesday constituted an 18-member committee on palliative following the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.
The committee, according to a statement by the Press Secretary Office of the Deputy Governor, Hussaini Mai Suleh, indicated that Buni approved his deputy as the committee chairman.
“The committee has the following as its terms of reference: to carry out an assessment of the areas of intervention; identify vulnerable persons; identify the type of intervention and develop mechanisms to ensure that intervention reaches the target persons,” the statement said.
It added that, this is with a view to ameliorating the pains and hardship of the people in the state.
Members of the committee are: Speaker Yobe State House of Assembly, (member); Secretary to the State Government, (member); Head of the Civil Service, (member); Chief of staff to His Excellency, (member); Senior special assistant on empowerment, (member); Permanent Secretary Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, (member); Executive Secretary SEMA, (member); Representative of NLC, (member); Representative of Civil Society Organization, (member) and Rep. House of Representatives, (member).
Others are: Representative of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (member); one other member from the State House of Assembly, (member); Chairman ALGON, (member); Permanent Secretary Ministry for Local Govt. and Chieftaincy Affairs, (member); Representative of National Council of Women Society, (member); Representative of Youth Group, (member) with Deputy Chief of Staff Government House to serve as both member as well as secretary of the committee.
