Sweden Opens Trade Office in Lagos

The Swedish government has inaugurated a new trade office in Lagos, aimed at fostering stronger business ties and encouraging Swedish companies to invest in Nigeria.

The event, which marked a significant step in the partnership between both nations, was attended by dignitaries, including the Nigerian Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Atiku Bagudu, and Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme.

Speaking at the event, Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Mr. Benjamin Dousa, emphasized the long history shared by both countries. “We’re both a good match for exchange; new partnerships are being forged between our countries,” Dousa said. “We must join hands to build a sustainable future.”

The Swedish Trade and Invest Council highlighted the synergy between Sweden and Nigeria, noting the shared focus on digitalization and free trade, which would help strengthen their economic relationship.

The occasion also coincided with the visit of Crown Princess Victoria Desiree of Sweden to Nigeria.

The event concluded with a vibrant fashion show featuring Swedish and Nigerian designers, symbolizing the growing cultural and economic exchange between the two nations.
