Governor Siminalayi Fubara has still not been informed by his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, about the true cause of their ongoing political hostility, according to Fubara’s Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Jerry Omotsegunwa.

The political crisis between Wike and Fubara, which has lasted since late 2023, reached a new peak when President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State on March 18, 2025, leading to Fubara’s suspension and the dissolution of the state’s House of Assembly.

In a recent interview, former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi suggested that the rift might be linked to “money sharing,” but Omotsegunwa dismissed this claim, calling it a personal opinion.

“As it stands right now, I will not dispute Amaechi’s position, even though he has the right to his own opinion,” he said.

However, Omotsegunwa emphasized that the cause of the feud has not been clearly explained by Wike, adding, “This crisis has dragged on for almost two years now, and nobody has told us what the actual problem is.”

He went on to explain that both Wike and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister had failed to provide clarity on the issue, leaving the true reason behind the conflict still a mystery.

Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, declined to comment on the matter when contacted.
