Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri has presented a budget proposal of N163 billion for the 2022 fiscal year.

Fintiri, who presented the budget before the state House of Assembly on Thursday, said it is made up of N98.8 billion or 60 percent for recurrent expenditure and N64.7 billion or 40 percent for capital expenditure.

He explained that the fiscal proposal, tagged ‘Budget of Sustainable Hope’, is designed to sustain the fast pace of development of his government.

“The Government will continue to solidify what was already established since the inception of this Administration by ensuring that there is much improvement in the various sectors,” Fintiri said.

Speaking at length on plans for the education sector, Governor Fintiri said his administration which has provided additional classrooms in most primary schools, will commence, during the 2022 year, rehabilitating most Post Primary Schools.

“Government will also establish at least two standard boarding schools in each senatorial district to admit the best of our students placed before our very best teachers,” he announced.

Making assurances against the high rate of out-of-school children across the state, Fintiri said, “We are making adequate provision of learning materials and ensuring the provision of a good learning environment. This will make our children develop an interest in education at these formative years.”

Fintiri said efforts that were continually being made to increase sources of income other than federal allocation, would be intensified in the course of the 2022 fiscal year.

He said reforms in internal revenue generation spearheaded by the state Revenue Board were yielding fruits and lots of more resources were being generated by the board.
