Uba Sani Joins Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion

Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani has been inaugurated as a member of the newly-formed Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion.

The ceremony which took place on Monday in the Vice President’s conference room at the Presidential Villa in Abuja marked the launch of the ASO ACCORD initiative.

The Presidential Committee, established to drive economic and financial inclusion initiatives in the country, is headed by the Vice President, with the Hon. Minister of Finance serving as Deputy Chairman. Other members include governors, ministers, the CBN Governor, and key private sector representatives.

List of Committee Members include:

1. Vice President (Chairman)

2. Hon. Minister of Finance (Deputy Chairman)

3. Governor Uba Sani (Member)

4. Governor of Enugu State (Member)

5. Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs (Member)

6. Hon. Minister of Communication and Digital Economy (Member)

7. National Security Adviser (Member)

8. CBN Governor (Member)

9. Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Member)

10. Private Sector Representative (Member)

11. Technical Assistant to the President on Economic and Financial Inclusion (Secretary)

The committee’s core mission is to advance financial inclusion, a key strategy for reducing poverty and fostering economic growth. The Governing Board will oversee efforts to ensure broader access to financial services for Nigerians, especially the underserved populations.

Governor Uba Sani’s appointment is seen as a recognition of his leadership in financial inclusion at the sub-national level. Under his leadership, Kaduna State has become a benchmark for other states, thanks to his collaborations with both national and international partners.

During the inauguration, Governor Sani expressed his commitment to the initiative, saying, “It is a privilege to be part of this committee. Financial inclusion is not just a policy—it is a tool for empowering Nigerians and lifting them out of poverty. I am excited to work alongside my colleagues to drive meaningful change.”

The launch of the ASO ACCORD initiative is expected to complement the committee’s work by expanding financial access across Nigeria.
