Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has called on security agencies in Osun State to intensify their efforts in maintaining peace ahead of the upcoming local government elections on Saturday, February 22nd.

In a post on his X page on Monday, the father of two initially accused the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abba, of failing to uphold the rule of law after thugs attacked all 30 local government councils in the state, resulting in the deaths of three people. However, after a thorough review of the situation, Davido acknowledged the efforts made by the state’s security agencies.

“I now see that the issue is more than that of the Commissioner of Police or other security chiefs. The needless killings today angered me so deeply that I thought they should have been nipped in the bud. Yet, I can see that the security agencies, led by the Commissioner of Police, put in their best and deserve commendation,” Davido shared.

The singer further apologized for not previously recognizing the hard work of the Commissioner of Police, emphasizing the importance of law enforcement’s role in maintaining peace. “This is a grave oversight, and I want to declare that his support for the rule of law and the protection of peace in Osun State is hereby acknowledged and appreciated.”

Davido urged the public and all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful election, stressing that the security agencies should “redouble their efforts to sustain peace.” He added, “We must allow the rule of law to prevail.”

In closing, Davido wished the Commissioner of Police and other security commanders success in addressing the challenges ahead, emphasizing that peaceful elections would be a significant achievement for all involved.
