In a historic event held in Kebbi State, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Umar Ganduje, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, presented N54 million as dowries to 300 couples during the state’s second mass wedding ceremony.

The beneficiaries, representing all 21 local government areas of Kebbi, each received N180,000 in dowries. The solemnization of the marriages was led by the Walin Gwandu, Malam Muktar, alongside other notable Islamic clerics. They urged the newlyweds to adhere to the principles of marriage as laid out in the Holy Qur’an.

“From today, your wife’s entire life depends on you. You must exhibit the best character as a responsible husband,” said Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, addressing the couples.

In addition to the dowries, the NANAS Foundation, founded by the wife of Kebbi’s governor, Hajia Nafisa Nasir Idris, provided essential items for the new homes, including beds, duvets, furniture, food items, and starter packs for the grooms.

A key aspect of the ceremony was the confirmation from Kano cleric, Malam Aminu Daurawa, that the grooms were certified medically fit and financially capable to care for their wives.

Speaking at the event, Ganduje expressed support for the mass wedding initiative, emphasizing its social impact. “This initiative is not just about wedding, but about strengthening the foundation of our society,” Ganduje remarked.

The ceremony was also attended by APC Organizing Secretary and other prominent figures in the party, highlighting the significance of the occasion to both local and national politics.
