In preparation for the local government elections on Saturday, February 22, 2025, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has announced a restriction on vehicular movement across the state. The order will be in effect from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The governor explained that the restriction was essential to ensure a smooth and peaceful election process. “This measure is necessary to prevent the importation of hoodlums and ensure the safety and security of the people of Osun,” said Governor Adeleke.

The restriction will allow only voters, accredited media, and members of civil society organizations to move freely. Security agencies have been directed to enforce the order strictly to maintain order during the election period.

Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for the state governor, signed the statement confirming the directive.

“The safety and well-being of Osun’s residents are paramount, and we remain committed to ensuring that these elections are held in a secure and peaceful environment,” Rasheed added.

This decision aims to bolster security and deter any disturbances during the highly anticipated local government elections.
