Anambra Unveils First-Ever Floating Restaurant to Boost Tourism

In a major initiative to enhance tourism and the hospitality sector, the Anambra State Government, in collaboration with “Ije Ride,” has launched the state’s first floating restaurant at the Marine Jetty in Onitsha.

Speaking at the grand launch, the Commissioner for Transport, Barrister Patricia Igwebuike, highlighted the project as a visionary move by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to “promote tourism, boost local businesses, and showcase Anambra’s rich cultural heritage.” She added, “This partnership with Ije Ride will unlock the untapped potential of our waterways, attracting visitors and creating business opportunities for local entrepreneurs.”

The CEO of Ije Ride, Honourable Edward Ibuzo, also lauded the project, calling it a unique dining experience. “Our restaurant will offer both local and intercontinental dishes, all with a spectacular view of Anambra’s beautiful waterways,” he said.

Ensuring the safety of patrons, Mr. Chiejina Obieze, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, assured that “strict safety measures and regulations will be enforced to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all.”

The floating restaurant marks a new chapter in the state’s tourism sector and promises to be a key attraction for visitors and locals alike.
