Osun State’s government and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have strongly condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) over its call for a state of emergency in the state, following similar actions in Rivers State.

The APC’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, had urged President Bola Tinubu to extend the emergency rule imposed in Rivers to Osun, citing constitutional breaches by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Osun State Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, dismissed the APC’s demand, labeling it “callous, self-centered, and unlawful.”

Alimi emphasized the stark contrast between the political crises in Rivers and Osun, describing the APC’s actions as an attempt to seize power “through the backdoor” after being rejected by the electorate.

“The call, no doubt, stems from a demented mind,” Alimi remarked, adding, “all the evil machinations against the people-oriented government of Ademola Adeleke will not see the light of day.”

Similarly, the PDP’s spokesman, Oladele Bamiji, decried the call as reckless and dangerous, stressing that the political situation in Osun was far from the crisis in Rivers. “There is nothing near a breakdown of governance in Osun State. The state government is running well,” Bamiji stated.
