The Lagos State government has called for residents’ cooperation as it begins the construction of Egan-Akesan Road in Alimosho Local Council. The government said the project was significant for a livable and sustainable environment, especially to the people of Egan-Akesan.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Oluwole Sotire, said the project is in line with the developmental agenda of the state government in making remarkable success in the area of infrastructure renewal.
Speaking at a stakeholders meeting on the project, he stated that the successful execution of the project would provide the required succour to residents by enhancing connectivity and ease traffic, as well as boost value of property in the area.
According to him, the establishment of Right of Way, which is a condition precedent to the execution of all public projects, followed a certain process, including serving statutory notices and marking of affected buildings before the actual removal of encumbering structures to pave way for development in public interest.
Permanent Secretary, Office of Infrastructure, Lagos State, Olufemi Daramola, represented by the Director, Road Construction and Rehabilitation, Tokunbo Oyenuga, highlighted the features of the project to include provision of service ducts, streetlights with LED lamps, generating set, provision of road signages and others.
Also speaking, a member representing Alimosho Constituency II in Lagos State House of Assembly, Kehinde Joseph, advised the people to support the project. He noted that the project would assist in de-flooding the area, enhanced interconnectivity and the provision of direct and indirect employment. He also urged the contractor to employ local artisans for the project.
The Assistant Director in Lands Bureau, Titilayo Wesley, assured residents that those whose property would be affected and has valid documents would be compensated.
