Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has revealed that he will announce his preferred successor in January 2026. The governor made the statement during the 11th Omituntun Ramadan lecture held at the Government House Arcade in Ibadan on Monday.

Speaking in Yoruba, Makinde expressed his gratitude to Muslim leaders for their support throughout his administration. He encouraged them to continue praying for his government, emphasizing the importance of peace and unity during the Ramadan season.

He humorously addressed a popular socialite, Abbas Oloko, urging him not to remove his billboard at Isale Alfa, stating, “I’m not yet a lame duck. Please leave my billboard at Isale Alfa.”

“By January 2026, we know that political activities will start. I will tell you the picture of the person that will be installed there,” Makinde added, hinting at his plans for the future of Oyo State’s leadership.

Makinde also urged Muslims to use the Ramadan period to foster peace, unity, and harmony in society, regardless of religious differences.
