Niger Govt Revives Monthly Sanitation

The Niger State Government has directed the revival of the monthly sanitation programme with effect from September to ensure a healthy environment and prevent outbreaks of diseases in the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hajiya Binta Mamman, made this disclosure while addressing journalists after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the government house, Minna said the move would ensure a better and more conducive environment for the people of the state.

Mamman also stated that the state governor, Muhammad Umar Bago, has issued directives to the commissioner for Mineral Resources to fully implement the executive order banning illegal mining in the state.

According to her, “The Governor has also directed that the Ministry for Information and Water Resources and Water Sewage Cooperation to be relocated to Radio Niger.

Mamman further said the policies are underway to foster long-term economic growth and create jobs while balancing environmental concerns.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barr. Maurice Magaji, disclosed that the state government will take advantage of its vast land and its proximity to the Federal Capital, Abuja for revenue generation, assuring that the N120b annual target of the state government’s IGR is achievable.
