In response to rising security challenges, Ondo State has formed a joint task force to address the recent wave of kidnappings and violence.

This decision follows the deadly attacks by suspected bandits in the state, including the shooting deaths of five farmers in the Aba Oyinbo community in Akure North.

Ondo’s Amotekun Corps Commander, Akogun Adeleye, stated, “We want to reassure the residents of this state that they can continue their normal farming activities as the government has established a joint task force to stabilize the remote areas of Akure North.”

Adeleye confirmed that the joint task force, which includes the army, police, NSCDC, and Amotekun personnel, has restored normalcy to affected areas like Ago Oyinbo, Ago Dada, and others.

Additionally, the Amotekun Corps has arrested 32 suspected kidnappers across four local governments: Akure South, Akure North, Ose, and Akoko North-East.

“These suspects were apprehended through the concerted efforts of the Amotekun Rangers and other security agencies,” Adeleye added. “We are committed to continuing our efforts to ensure peace and security across the state.”

The recent actions come as part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in Ondo and ensure the safety of its residents.
