The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State has expelled 84 of its members for alleged anti-party activities.
The party made this known on Wednesday in a statement signed by its State chairman, Tajudeen Lawal.
It stated that the decision was arrived at after the State Executive Committee constituted a Disciplinary Committee to investigate the allegations against some members.
Leading the list of party members expelled is Rasak Salinsile, a former Vice Chairman of the Osun APC and Chairman of a faction of the party loyal to Rauf Aregbesola, former Osun State governor and ex-minister for Interior.
Biyi Odunlade, a commissioner in the cabinet of Governor Ademola Adeleke was also among the party members expelled.
According to the statement, “This disciplinary measure came in response to the allegations of misconduct and actions that embarrassed and brought the party to disrepute.
“The Disciplinary Committee undertook a thorough and impartial review of the allegations and the findings were carefully deliberated upon by the State Executive Committee.
“After a comprehensive assessment of the evidence and consideration of the committee’s recommendations, the State Executive Committee has taken the difficult yet necessary step of expelling the following members:
