The Minister of Works, Mr Dave Umahi said that the federal government would review road contracts in Ogun State.

Umahi stated this during a courtesy visit to Governor Dapo Abiodun at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta, On Thursday, as part of his working visit to the South West geopolitical zone

The minister, accompanied by top officials of the Federal Ministry of Works, said the contract review would enable the state government to participate in the construction of major highways in the state.

He explained that the visit would allow him to have more information on the state of federal government roads in the state.

Umahi promised that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration would not leave any federal road unattended, saying it’s a new beginning in critical infrastructure development.

The Minister said, “We will review the contracts of all federal roads in Ogun to enable the government in both state and federal to take necessary steps to ensure no road is left unattended.”

He, however, expressed his ministry’s resolve to partner with all relevant stakeholders in getting work done.

“The era of bureaucracy is gone. Tinubu’s government is ready to partner with stakeholders on critical infrastructural development,” he said.

Umahi, who later inspected the ongoing reconstruction work on the 42km Ajebo/Ogunmakin road in Abeokuta, promised speedy completion of the project.

Abiodun, while responding, said federal roads in the state needed urgent attention, saying the deplorable state of the roads had continued to hinder socioeconomic development.
