The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, has urged corp members to take advantage of the various skill acquisition and vocational education programmes provided by the National Youth Service Corps within the duration of their service year, in order to be self-reliant.
He stated this while hosting the NYSC state management team at the House of Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
He stressed the need for the youth to engage in vocational training to complement their formal education and further propel them for greatness in their future endeavors.
Assuring the team of the lawmakers’ continued support in the enactment of enabling legislation, meant to promote small businesses and the protection of lives and property, he added that the NYSC scheme remained notable for integrating youth from different ethnic groups in the country for national unity and development.
The state NYSC coordinator, Mrs. Belinda Faniyi, called for government’s intervention, especially in the provision of more infrastructural facilities at the Sagamu Orientation Camp, as well as more support for the corp members.
